Growing mushrooms outside

In April King Stropharia/ Red Wine Cap mushrooms were planted outside in raised beds. The mushroom spawn inoculated pegs have been sewn in beds of bark chippings. The hard wood bark will feed the mushrooms over the next six months and be ready to harvest in the Autumn. These mushroom will continue to provide an annual harvest and especially, if they are fed with a top-up of fresh bark chippings each Spring. Put a top-layer of straw on the beds for insulation and cardboard until May. The mushroom beds need to be kept well-watered but not soggy.
