These exploratory pieces are drawings and carvings into foam insulation blocks. Figurative, bodily exploring removal, loss and absence through the excavation-drawings. Possible considerations are to cast into the negative spaces and join the blocks together to create spaces for castings. ‘Space’ provides space for the coming together of sculpture; a meditation on the rebuilding of forms, systems and lives.

These blocks were found abandoned and still in their original plastic wrapping. The material removed is stored to be recycled into future work. In this way the pre-pandemic materials are protected and will be carried over into the new world order and will experience life as fresh sculpture to be discovered and developed as opportunities are created to allow for this.
