Valentine

Valentine is a sculpture comprised of several plaster moulds. The original intention was to cast the internal clay sculpture in cement fondue but Fox decided the work at this stage of the process was complete.

Valentine in part, is a celebration of plaster moulds. Plaster moulds are traditionally functional and can be overlooked as powerful sculptural objects in their own right.

Valentine is an early example of Fox’s sculpture combining figuration, abstraction and the fragment.

Fox was awarded the Monnington Prize (for the most promising body of work by a first year student) at The Slade School, UCL 1995 -6
